What is Z POINTS?

Z Points is our Online Loyalty program, where you get rewards for your actions on the site when you are logged in.

Registering an account gets you 100 points automatically.  Adding an avatar or a pseudonym gets you more points.  Every day you visit the site, points.  Adding an item to your wish list?  Points.  Adding a comment or a review?  Points.  Subscribe to newsletter?  Get points.  You get the idea.

Actually, after registering an account, the most valued action on the site i.e. generating the most points, is: creating a review.  We value it tremendously.  Why?  Because WE can tell you a book is great until the cows come home...  But it is others validating it that gives it credibility.  However, negative reviews are welcome as well.  Any well articulated, constructive criticism is, frankly, welcome.

However, be warned: a review refused by the admins will actually make you lose 100 points!  The only reason a review could be denied is that it is of the stupid variety.  Something like "Great book!  Highly recommended!" or something that is totally useless for anyone because it is so badly written, it is unintelligible.  This is to prevent someone from creating a bunch of useless, meaningless reviews just for the sake of getting points.  We want the review process to be both fun AND useful for those who consult them.

Be mindful of grammar and typos.  You lose some points for that too.  But you get the idea: writing reviews for the sake of writing them to get points will backfire.  Your reviews do not need to be novels but they need to tell us WHY you like or dislike a story or book.

MORE ABOUT REVIEWS

By default, and because this is an online store, the review system asks you for things that may not apply to you (especially if you picked the book in store), such as shipping.  In that case, if you read the book without buying it with us, or if you bought it at the physical store, just rate the quality of the book as it was when you bought it - shiping from the supplier affected it regardless.  Odds are the books are in decent shape so we expect lots of 4 or 5 there...  Just kidding.  Be honest in your rating, that is all we ask.

You may access , delete or edit any and all of your reviews at any time by visiting the MY REVIEWS section of your account.  If you purchased the item in our store, a verified purchase tag will also appear.  Once approved by an administrator, your reviews will be available for all to see all across the website.


HOW TO ACCESS Z POINTS?

You can manage all your Z Points from your account once you are logged in.  There is a section called Z POINTS LOYALTY REWARDS.  Clicking on it brings you to the manager interface.




OVERVIEW

In the overview, you can see how much points you have so far.  Your display name (which you can make it anything you choose), your lifetime points (where you can see if you lost some or not), your ranking (clicking on the ranking shows you a leaderboard with the 15 leading points members of the community), and the last level you were at, if you moved or not.  If you have an avatar, it will appear here as well.

You also get a timeline with your last 5 actions and the points it generated for you.  This is what it looks like:




SETTINGS

At the far right, there is the settings section, which allows you to do the following:

• You may chose to not use the Loyalty program whatsoever (and forfeit all its privileges);

• You may chose a new pseudonym on the site;

• You may upload an avatar;

TIMELINE

The timeline itself is pretty straightforward. It shows you your latest actions and how much points it generated for you:




LEVELS

Levels tells you where you are in the process. 

Levels is interesting because it is much more than meets the eyes.  At first glance, it is just that: a fun way to show some sort of progress.  But there are deeper layers. 

Each level name is a clue.  The levels' descriptions contains further clues.  If you piece them together, it tells you to visit a specific product page on the site. 

The page you end up visiting is both a product we recommend and that you might be well advised to at least inquire upon, but it also potentially hides Easter Eggs that you will unlock with your actions.  It can be a free comic book, a surprise rebate on your next purchase, a digital redeem code for Previews Magazine, all kinds of hidden stuff awaits if you figure out the clues.  Whatever you win can be added to your next order and shipped with it or picked up in store, your choice.  As a bonus, every time you reach a level, you get a discount in the form of a percentage that is applicable to your next order.

The higher the levels you climb, the higher the rewards.  Up to a $1000 gift certificate...  However, we must warn you: the puzzle is not easy to solve and the more you progress, the more crytpic the clues get...  It is like Ready Player One (the book, not the movie!) but played inside the Bookstore website!



Levels are attained by either accumulating points or performing a certain number of specific actions.  It is on the Levels Page that you can see what is required of you to reach the next one.


Z POINTS

At anytime, you may convert the accumulated points for cash to be used in the store.  You can do this in this section.  Basically your points get converted into a rebate coupon that you can apply upon check out for ANY merchandise in the site.

LEADERBOARD

The leaderboard shows you the top 15 users of the site that have accumulated the most points.  It helps you gauge where you stand and also helpsyou keep track of what others are doing - you want to be one that wins that $1000 gift certificate after all, don't you?
