FAILSAFE: KILLING BATMAN WITH BATMAN
In Failsafe, the first arc of Batman written by Canadian writer Chip Zdarsky, Bruce Wayne is more vulnerable than ever, exposed by nightmarish entities that haunt his dreams and predict a future marked by the death of everyone he loves. A success both visually and narratively, the Dark Knight is in good hands with Zdarsky and Spanish artist Jorge Jiménez.

The story begins with a tortured Batman plagued by deep regrets. The billionaire meditates with melancholy on the danger he has brought upon his family, as well as his regret for not marrying Selina Kyle because of his superhero responsibilities. Additionally, Wayne has a recurring dream that happens every time he falls into the arms of Morpheus: The Joker destroys his family and takes over the city of Gotham, leaving only chaos and despair in his destructive wake.
High morals or not, duty still calls for the Caped Crusader! After a fierce battle with one of his archenemies, his rival is gravely injured and ends up in the hospital. Being the great detective he is, Batman decides to interrogate him in his hospital room, but he swallows a cyanide pill, committing suicide on the spot! The hero is quickly seen next to the deceased and is declared the prime suspect in his death...

In the early 2000s, Mark Waid and Howard Porter wrote Tower of Babel, an iconic Justice League storyline. In it, we discover that Batman has in his possession complex files containing the strengths and weaknesses of each of his superhero colleagues, as well as the steps to take to end their lives. After the end of this arc, one question remained: if Batman can kill all the heroes, who will kill Batman?
Fast forward 23 years later, Bruce Wayne has created a robotic entity named Failsafe, a perfect copy of the hero's psyche, devoid of emotions and possessing physical abilities far superior to any other human creation. Failsafe is programmed to eliminate Batman if he was to kill another individual. Under normal circumstances, the synthetic being watches, sleeping, over the news of thousands of newspapers to analyze whether its creator has gone too far. With the recent news that the Dark Knight may have killed his opponent on his hospital bed, Failsafe wakes up and will stop at nothing until it has accomplished what it was created for: KILLING BRUCE WAYNE.

An epic and tense story filled with surprising twists and astonishing cameos; Failsafe is a read that gets the blood pumping as you turn the pages. Unpredictable and cruel, the murderous android is a perfect villain who doesn't need to say much to be imposing!
