The 5 Hottest Halloween Costumes Of 2017
It's just about time to start thinking (or stressing) about this year's Halloween costume ideas! For those of us that dress up at the office or for parties or just for fun to take the kids out Halloween night....things can get pretty hectic!
If you're anything like me, you are usually scrambling a few days before Halloween or the party to get those last minute costumes. This year, I am getting us all in the spirit a little early with this one-stop guide to 2017's hottest costume ideas.
And no, President Trump is NOT on the list....that's pretty redundant isn't it?! These are more for the pop culture crowd...let's try to forget about politics for two seconds, am I right?
Game of Thrones

This here's gonna be a big one this year. What makes GoT such a great idea for a costume (and has been for a few years now) is that there's a gajillion characters to choose from to dress up as. I mean, you can do Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, The Hound, Hodor, The White Walkers or Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryan (great idea for a couple, right?)...you can go on forever. Heck, if you are an insane person, you can even dress up as one of the dragons!
Depending on how accurate you want to be, the big issue is finding all the right parts of the costume. Not every town has one of those awesome medieval costume shops! But one thing is for certain, Game of Thrones is and will be one of the hottest costume subjects for years to come. You can't really go wrong.
Rick and Morty

Ask any young, hip person what their favorite TV show is these days and they will probably say Adult Swim's Rick and Morty. If you don't know what this is, well, you've probably been living under a rock for the past few years....or you're over 40 years old.
Well, if that's the case, Rick and Morty is a loose parody of Back To The Future created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon about mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty Smith as they go on wacky adventures...and basically it's pretty insanely funny and weird and one of the most popular TV shows to come around in ages. This show is so popular that it single-handedly started a viral campaign that convinced McDonald's to bring back it's Szechuan McNugget dipping sauce (that came out as a promotion for Disney's Mulan), all because of an ongoing joke in the show! You can also spot Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) watching the show in the Justice League trailer...because of course The Flash enjoys quality entertainment in between super speedstering.
So obviously Rick and Morty costumes will be all over the place this year. If you wanna spice things up and be extra super Schwifty, you need to go Pickle Rick, Tiny Rick, Evil Morty, Judge Morty, Mr. Poopy Butt Hole or Noob Noob....yeah, all of those are things. Trust me on this one. You will be a hit.
Pennywise From IT

This is a given. The biggest horror movie of the year is most definitely the remake of Stephen King's IT, and it's getting some great acclaim! So naturally, there will be many people dressing as Pennywise, the murderous monster clown from the movie. Red balloons and all!
This has got to be one of the greatest ideas ever in a horror novel. Personally, I never found the clowns particularly scary, but there was just something off about how they presented Pennywise. Is there anything more unnerving than a creepy clown in the sewer?! There's something wrong about it and you just don't wanna be there while it's happening. It's another reason why The Joker has worked so well as a villain over the years. When clowns are in certain environments it just feels awkward.
For an alternate idea, ladies can dress up as a female Pennywise (you can't go wrong with a gender swap) or you could even go old school and do the Tim Curry version of the character from the 80's TV miniseries.
Bottom line, just don't go out on Halloween this year if you have a severe clown phobia.
Riverdale

I never thought a teen drama featuring serious versions of Archie characters would work this well, but when you add a murder mystery, sexy overtones and a creepy Twin Peaks style narrative...it just works. Whoever thought of this show is a genius.
So yes, I expect quite a few Riverdale themed group costumes this year. Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Cheryl Blossom, Josie & The Pussycats, you name it. What makes this idea so good is how easy it is to pull it off. There isn't really any elaborate makeup involved or anything.
But if you wanna make things extra creepy for Halloween, you can do the Afterlife With Archie style zombie costumes, or the old school cartoony Archie characters! Really, anything Archie and Riverdale related will be hot this year.
Wonder Woman

I would say the biggest surprise superhero movie of the year has got to be Wonder Woman. It was probably the best DC movie in years and that was because it captured the essence of the character and it wasn't as dark in tone as the other DC Extended Universe films.
But the biggest reason this movie was so important is because it gave women and girls of all colors, shapes and ages a real super heroine to look up to. Really, even though Wonder Woman has been around since 1941, but never before has she (or any female comic book superhero) have had a live action movie on this scale and production value. Diana was a BIG deal this year, and while this has always been a popular Halloween costume, the Gal Gadot version is now going to be everywhere.
You could always make things more interesting and do a different version of Wonder Woman, though...like the Diana Prince civilian costume, the classic Lynda Carter Wonder Woman or even the DC Bombshells Wonder Woman or the Gotham Garage version. There's so many cool takes on the character and there's really no wrong way to do a Wonder Woman costume.
So there you go! These are without a doubt going to be the biggest costumes this year for Halloween. But you just gotta remember, the best costumes are the ones nobody has thought of! Originality is key! Here's to everyone having a safe and happy Halloween!
