The Journey is the Destination - Void Trip #2 Review

If the journey is the destination then let us keep on tripping with Void Trip.

In the first issue we met the last two humans left in the universe. Ana is a froot fanatic. Froot is the “trip” du jour. Different fruit gives different side effects but Ana doesn't seem to be too particular about what kind of froot she consumes. The other, Gabe, is a bit of a bum. He's what could be described as a petty thief.

He's relatively harmless but lacks enough ambition to lead an honest life. It's either that or it's possible this is the only way of life in the worlds they're travelling in. These two are travelling together, trying to reach a place called Euphoria. They could just punch in the coordinates into their A.I. on their ship and go straight there but, “the journey is the destination”. They're still on their way to Euphoria but a bounty hunter robot is after them.

In issue two we start off on a froot trip. Ana is having a hallucination/tripping. The hallucination has her talking to a froot person.

He's asking Ana why she isn't travelling to Euphoria and she explains that it's a dream, a big unobtainable goal. She finally admits that if she reaches Euphoria that's the end.

Reaching her ultimate goal may make her stop wanting to continue on the path she's currently on. It's a story a lot of people can relate to. If you make a goal and reach it, what's next? Seems Gabe and Ana are both lacking ambition, only having one goal. It's no wonder she's in no hurry to achieve it.

This issue incorporates a bit more humour than issue one and it makes it fun. When the robot bounty hunter gets pulled over by the cops for a random check, it's another situation a lot of people can relate to. It's just funny to see it translated into interstellar humour.
